Repository Ltd (LLWR), a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), in its mandate to transport radioactive material across the UK in NOVAPAK Type B road and rail packages.

The reusable NOVAPAK package can indeed transport four 200 Litre drums, with a total of 8 drums in two NOVAPAKs per road transport. Weighing 5 tonnes fully laden, each NOVAPAK is invaluable in clearing many legacy facilities of mixed intermediate-level waste, including Low Enriched Uranium and Plutonium Contaminated Material.

Working together for over 5 years, NUVIA and LLWR now have a fleet of fully operational, regulator-approved transport packages. Teams have worked closely to ensure the high-quality robust NOVAPAKs will continue to service the UK’s NDA fleet and other sites for many years to come!
