At Fessenheim (France), NUVIA is contributing to the decommissioning of a symbolic site
We are opening a new chapter with a major project: contributing to the decommissioning of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant, an emblematic site within the French fleet.
Our ambition is clear: to complete the decommissioning of at least one of the two reactors within 15 years—an unprecedented timeframe, significantly shorter than for similar facilities.
To meet this challenge, our teams are mobilizing all our areas of expertise: engineering, logistics, construction, safety, radiological protection, and site coordination.
The first operations involve the near-complete dismantling of a large technical room (40 m × 10 m) containing extensive piping, steel structures, and equipment. We will also carry out a rare and technically demanding operation: removing three large tanks (7 m in diameter and 11 m high). This will be done using a jacking system combined with progressive cutting—a complex method requiring precision and full technical control.
All of this must be executed in an environment where simultaneous activities, the presence of sensitive materials (asbestos, lead), and coordination with EDF and other contractors demand absolute rigor.
This is only the beginning. We are strengthening our presence on site to support this major project and anticipate the next stages of the decommissioning process.
