Today we celebrate a decisive moment for our company and the future of fusion energy…

The ILIOS consortium — a joint venture between NUVIA and Kier, with AECOM, Turner & Townsend and AL_A as strategic partners — was officially appointed by UK Fusion Energy (formerly UK Industrial Fusion Solutions) as Construction Partner for the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) programme, a strategic initiative sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and led by UKIFS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). The 4.5-year, €230 million contract, covers phase 1 of the project.

Tom Jones, CEO of NUVIA UK, says: “We are proud to be part of this landmark moment for fusion. By combining our expertise with our partners, we are helping shape a future that will transform the UK fusion industry and contribute to global energy supply.

The programme aims to deliver a commercially viable fusion power plant by 2040 at West Burton Power Station, representing a transformative technological advance for the UK and for the global development of clean, abundant, and sovereign energy.

As a core member of the consortium, NUVIA will play a central role in delivering the programme, turning ambition into reality and driving engineering excellence, innovation, and the energy transition.

STEP also delivers tangible impact: creating skilled jobs, strengthening supply chains, accelerating economic and social development in the Midlands, and preparing the energy future for the next generations.

At NUVIA, Supporting your energy is our motto — and today, we’re proud to also support your future energy.
We’re not just imagining the future of energy. We’re helping to build it.
