NUVIA partners with Mirion to develop a groundbreaking automated system for free-release measurements at DOEL and TIHANGE, enabling safer, faster, and more efficient nuclear waste management.
We are excited to announce a strategic contract between NUVIA and Mirion to develop a first-of-its-kind automated free-release measurement system for DOEL and TIHANGE. This solution combines Mirion’s total gamma measurement technology with NUVIA’s gamma spectrometry and automation expertise, covering both volumetric and, for the first time, automated surface contamination measurements.
Automating surface measurements at this level is a major technical challenge and a key enabler for 24/7 continuous operation, helping reduce delays, cut costs, and ensure consistency.
The goal? To accurately measure and classify conventional waste from decommissioning activities, with the potential to free-release up to 99% of it, safely and efficiently.
A key part of this innovation is being developed by our dedicated Czech engineering team, currently working on the design and engineering phase. We’re proud to be shaping a smarter, safer future for nuclear clean-up.
